BIOGRAPHY

Jonathan grew up in London, England. He first studied illustration at Art College but then followed his childhood love of cinema at Bournemouth Film and Television School.

After graduating, Jonathan began his career as an independent producer on short films for television. He produced his first feature film in 1995, a romantic comedy, SO THIS IS ROMANCE. Over the next ten years, Jonathan went on to produce a series of European films including EMILE starring Ian McKellen, THE POET, starring Dougray Scott and A GOOD WOMAN, starring Scarlett Johannson and Helen Hunt.

During this time he also began working his directorial debut, MINOTAUR, which was made in 2005 and stars Tom Hardy, Rutger Hauer and Tony Todd. Based on the Greek myth, the film was released in the US by Lions Gate.

Jonathan then wrote and directed, IRONCLAD, which became his biggest film to date. Set in the 13th Century against the backdrop of the Magna Carta, the film is about the siege of Rochester castle. It stars Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox, Sir Derek Jacobi, James Purefoy, Kate Mara, and Charles Dance among others. Released throughout the world in 2011, the film received rave reviews and its portrayal of medieval warfare has been described as some of the most graphic and realistic ever put to film. It was named by Empire magazine as #1 action movie of 2011.

In between writing and directing Jonathan continues to produce with other filmmakers. In 2012 he produced SWEETWATER, a western starring Ed Harris and January Jones and SEAL PATROL, made with veterans from the US army and released by Lions Gate. Jonathan also directed his first stage play, AMERICAN BUFFALO by David Mamet.

Following the success of IRONCLAD, he wrote and directed its sequel in 2013 called IRONCLAD 2: BATTLE FOR BLOOD. Released by Warners Bros in the UK and stars Michelle Fairley, Tom Austen, and a cast of young British talent.

Jonathan is currently working on DIAS, a contemporary action film about an elite motorbike unit of the Greek police. He is attached to direct AVENGEMENT: SWORD OF SKANDERBEG about the life of George Kastrioti, who defeated the Turks in the 15th Century. THE KILLING HOUSE, a contemporary action thriller about the Special Forces, and THE CRETAN RUNNER, about the kidnapping of a German General from the island of Crete during WWII. He is also currently working on his first graphic novel and continues to illustrate for most of his film projects.

Jonathan resides in Los Angeles but divides much of his time between the US and Europe.
